How the Buffyverse could have been different: the unaired pilot

So today I stumbled across the unaired Buffy The Vampire Slayer pilot, and I can totally see why it wasn’t originally picked up.  It was so cheesy!!

It had a lot of the same dialogue, and a lot of the same cast, but still.  I didn’t really like it.  Although Buffy herself was still played by Sarah Michelle Gellar, and although her lines were very much the same, she seemed less ditzy to me.

For starters, there was no Angel.  Also, there was no Jesse, no Joyce, and no real chemistry between the people.  I guess it doesn’t help that it was only 25 minutes long instead of two 43-minute episodes that were the actual premiere, but still!!

And who was that playing Willow??  There was nothing wrong with her, really, but Alyson Hannigan did such a good job at playing the shy, awkward nerd that anyone else in that role seems off.  Giles and Xander were still the same two actors (Anthony Stewart Head and Nicholas Brendon) that we love.

There was less Buffy-trying-to-fit-in scenes, Principal Flutie was less flustered, and there was no mention of the Harvest or anything.  And Darla dies!!  I’m glad they changed that little plot point!!

Although the library was much, much nicer, and definitely looked more like a library.  There were actual books!! It seemed a little big for a high school, though.

In the end, I’m glad the show was picked up, as I love it to death.  And I’m glad they made those changes.  Can you imagine Buffy with no David Boreanaz??  It would so NOT have been the same!!

Anyways, feel free to take a look, if you haven’t see it before.  Or re-watch it, if you have!!

Gorgeous Golden Globe Gowns

So I was looking through the Golden Globes red carpet arrivals, and I figured I’d post a few of the dresses that I loved.  Don’t get used to it, as I’m not big on fashion!!  But dresses and shoes are a weakness of mine, so i figured I’d take a minute to show you the ones I liked. There weren’t many, but I did think some were incredible.

Sarah Michelle Gellar could show up in a burlap sack with dirty hair and a mustache, and I’d still love her.  Although she did not, in fact, show up wearing that, what she did decide to wear was much more gorgeous.  She was wearing a blue-and-white tie dyed Monique Lhuillier strapless ball gown, and in my opinion, looking more beautiful than ever.  It’s not the typical dress you see, and honestly, it’s not the kind of dress I’d ever really go and try on myself.  But somehow, she manages to pull it off and look incredibly elegant while doing it.  Yes, I have mad love for SMG.  Or I guess Sarah Michelle Prinze, now, as I remember reading that she’d taken that name professionally.  She’s back on TV now in a show called The Ringer.  I should prolly check it out.

Once more, with feeling!!

I’ve been a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer since the day the first episode aired.  I watched every episode, until my high school social life made it hard to keep up.  Also, they changed channels.

Anyways, I had never seen past the fifth season.  So when I discovered that it was on Netflix, I started watching from Season One again.  Eventually, I reached the seventh episode of season six, “Once More With Feeling.” It is the only episode in the series to be a done as a musical.

I was expecting it to be a campy, corny, kind of embarrassing version of a musical.  Now, I’m not any kind of musical genius, or even remotely musically inclined, but I’m pleased to say that I was completely wrong.
