Gorgeous Golden Globe Gowns

So I was looking through the Golden Globes red carpet arrivals, and I figured I’d post a few of the dresses that I loved.  Don’t get used to it, as I’m not big on fashion!!  But dresses and shoes are a weakness of mine, so i figured I’d take a minute to show you the ones I liked. There weren’t many, but I did think some were incredible.

Sarah Michelle Gellar could show up in a burlap sack with dirty hair and a mustache, and I’d still love her.  Although she did not, in fact, show up wearing that, what she did decide to wear was much more gorgeous.  She was wearing a blue-and-white tie dyed Monique Lhuillier strapless ball gown, and in my opinion, looking more beautiful than ever.  It’s not the typical dress you see, and honestly, it’s not the kind of dress I’d ever really go and try on myself.  But somehow, she manages to pull it off and look incredibly elegant while doing it.  Yes, I have mad love for SMG.  Or I guess Sarah Michelle Prinze, now, as I remember reading that she’d taken that name professionally.  She’s back on TV now in a show called The Ringer.  I should prolly check it out.

Katharine McPhee is not really someone I follow.  She was on American Idol, right?? But didn’t win??  Whatever.  Doesn’t really matter.  What does matter is her awesome dress.  I believe it was a Donna Karen dress.  As far as I can tell, she wasn’t nominated, she was there to support her show.  Something about the behind-the-scenes of a musical??  I think I’ve heard it’s called Smash.  I may have that wrong.  I thought of looking it up, but I just don’t care enough.  Awesome dress, though.

Another person I’m not too sure about is Bérénice Bejo. According to what I can find, she’s in The Artist and was up for best supporting actress. She was born in Argentina, but was raised in France.  I know nothing else about her, really.  I haven’t seen her movie, nor did I really want to.  But she looks awesome.  Her dress, an Emilio Pucci gown, was a last-minute switch from the Elie Saab dress she was to wear.  She has apparently wore Elie Saab to any other award show, as they are friends in real life.  I’m not sure what her other option was, but she made the right choice with this one!!

Although her dress wasn’t exactly the most jaw-dropping, I think Taissa Farmiga looked great in a Vera Wang strapless dress.  She’s only like 16 (or possibly 17), so I’m glad she didn’t go for something hot and slutty.  She looks classy and sweet.  I absolutely loved her in American Horror Story.  There’s just something about her that makes me like her and want to watch her movies.  I hope she’s in the next season of  AHS.  She was pretty awesome.  She’s the younger sister of Vera Farmiga (The Departed, Up In The Air), and I’m hoping she’ll be in move movies.  I think she’s awesome, and I hope good things for her.  I will watch whatever she does next, that’s for sure!!

Looking really sexy, which to me was entirely unexpected, was Viola Davis.  Nominated for the supporting actress award for The Help, she looked incredible in a brown Pucci dress.  Not that I didn’t think she’d look sexy, just that I didn’t expect this look from her.  I kinda of expected something older-looking, maybe.  Sadly, she didn’t win the Globe that night, but she still looked great.  Her short hair also looks really good.  I also love the pose, with the leg showing.  She’s my mom’s age (no, really!!  well, two years younger) and still, she’s looking all sorts of hot.  I like it a lot.  I think she looks classy, and the leg really just adds a bit of extra sexiness.  I’ll keep my fingers crossed for her at the Oscars.

Another person who usually looks all kinds of hot and makes me (and I’m sure million other women out there) incredibly jealous of her gorgeous good looks and incredibly body is Kate Beckinsale.  She’s 38, but still looks better than most 20-year-old women I know.  She has Underworld: Awakening coming out soon, and I’m sure she kicks ass in it.  She’s wearing a strapless Roberto Carvalli dress, and she looks amazing.  I’ve loved her since I saw her in Brokedown Palace, way back in 1999.  She wasn’t the bombshell she is now back then, but obviously, age certainly does nothing but good things for her.  I can only hope thatwhen I’m 38, I look half as incredible as she does.

I love formal dresses.  And as you might be able to tell, I looooove strapless or off the shoulder gowns.  If only I had an excuse to wear one.  I would so do it!!

I’ll probably do a short list like this for the Oscars.  I’m not really well-versed in the fashion lingo, but I do like posting pictures of pretty dresses!!  And to be honest, I just wanted to be able to post a picture of SMG’s awesome dress.  I heart me some Buffy.
