The Force Awakens in less than two months!!

For as long as I can remember, the Star Wars trilogy (the original three) have been some of my favourite movies.  Although never strictly the nerdish type, I can remember spending weekends just watching all three, since in my world, trilogy watching means watching all three movies.

Then the trilogy of prequels came out.  Now, I’m not a die-hard über fan who can speak Chewbacca or whatever, but even I, at the young age of about 15, was incredibly disappointed with these movies. I can’t say if it was the bad acting, the shitty script-writing, or the stupid characters, but I hated it.  Hated. As in, I saw them once and refused to ever watch them again.

And now we’re a little less than two months away from the start of a third trilogy, and I’m beyond excited. I was skeptical at first, and I still am a little, but the closer the date gets, the more excited I get!!

Gilmore Girls is coming to Netflix!

© The WB/The CW

Unless you live under a rock, you’ve probably heard something this week about the possibility of new Gilmore Girls episodes.  My Facebook feed erupted today with everyone and everything talking about it.

So of course, I had to look into it. And what I found sounds promising for us fans!

According to TV Line and  The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix has reportedly closed a deal with Warner Bros. for a limited run revival of Gilmore Girls, which would be penned by creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and executive producer Dan Palladino. Unlike previous GG seasons, which had the full 22 episodes or so, and unlike other Netflix exclusives that have between 10-12 episodes,  this limited run would only be four 90-minute long episodes, or “mini movies.” While most series seem to come back to brand-new seasons, this would essentially serve as the goodbye it deserved — and a closure to all those wondering what happened to the characters.

It’s a zombie world…

The zombie apocalypse is probably one of the most terrifying, although far-fetched and hopefully impossible, things that could ever happen.  No matter which writer’s or director’s version of zombies you think of, they’re pretty terrifying.  They don’t sleep, they don’t need rest, they can’t be reasoned with.  They’re out for your blood (or brains, whatever), and nothing will stop them.  Total war, as they say.

Of course, most movies use the slow-moving, single-minded, follow-the-food zombie, which is scary, but can thankfully be outrun if you meet just one or two.  Then there’s the fast zombies that can run and climb and swarm and will fuck shit up.  They’re even more terrifying.  And, if that isn’t scary enough, in zombie master’s George A. Romero‘s Land of the Dead, the fourth movie of his Living Dead series, the zombies are actually beginning to think and plan their attacks.

Yes, they scare me. Now, I don’t actually believe that the zombie apocalypse will happen, but that doesn’t make it any less frightening for me.  Like most people, I have always been fascinated by the idea of zombies.  Besides Romero’s work, shows like The Walking Dead and movies like Warm Bodies and 28 Days Later have just fed that fascination.

So this week I decided to go all out and scare myself and watch Brad Pitt‘s World War Z, which I then followed by reading the novel of the same name by Max Brooks.  Not only would I get my fill of zombie shenanigans, but I’d see what the big hype was about on both the movie and the book.

A list of things before I die (a.k.a. my bucket list).

Bucket lists have always interested me. I’ve never really understood why they were called bucket lists, though.  I guess it’s because it’s things you wanna do before you kick the bucket??  Seems a little weird to me, but you know, English is pretty weird that way.  I’ve taken to calling them bucket lists now, though, because it’s what everyone else seems to know them as, and it’s just easier than explaining why you hate the name every time you use it.

Anyways, so I’ve had one made long before I knew what they were called, and even now, I continue to add to it.  I think I was nine years old when I first started writing down the list I’d been keeping in my head for as long as I could remember.  Some items have never changed (hug a panda, see the northern lights, learn to surf), while others have been added as soon as I discovered it was possible to do them or that they existed (swim with sharks, write a book, walk the Skywalk at the Grand Canyon).

Thankfully, I’ve crossed a few off my list: I’ve climbed a volcano, visited Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon, camped at Bruce Peninsula National Park, climbed a pyramid (well, technically a ziggurat, but I’m not gonna be picky).

I figured I’d list a few here for you all, in case you need some inspiration.  Of course, there’s other, less photo-friendly items on my list, like write a novel, learn a new language, see a broadway play, spend the night in a haunted house, learn to drive standard, and visit all 50 states.  Plus, you know, ride a hot air balloon, swim with dolphins, go horseback riding, go paragliding, see the Sphinx…. you get the point, I’m sure.

So there you go.  I’m sure I’ll come up with others as time goes by, and hopefully I’ll get to knock some off my list soon.  I’m hoping that within the next year I can go horseback riding and maybe ziplining or skydiving.  I wanted to get cliff jumping out the of the way, but instead I jumped off a high ledge inside a cave, which I’m not sure counts as a cliff.  And next year, a trip for sure.  Maybe Machu Picchu and the Inca Trail??  Maybe Comic Con in San Diego??  Or maybe I’ll just buy a pair of Louboutin leather boots (and/or sparkly stilettos).  I’d so love that!!

What’s on your bucket list??
